All the little tweaks that Ping made to these irons make them bs really ii25 combo for the lower handicap golfer who doesn't have extra time to practice or the mid-handicap golfer who likes the compact shape, but can still use forgiveness. I understand what you are getting at with the comparison to the Mizunos, but the Pings will not be any sort of a step backwards by any means. I ever purchased the S wedge in lieu of a full swing on 54 blade wedge I play the Glide Gorge in 56 and 60 closer to the pin.

The topline and offset of the set fit between what most would consider the size extremes out there and toes that line well enough to inspire a significant amount of confidence in-hand and at address. Overall the i25s are a little more forgiving in the long irons and mid and short irons fly a little higher but both sets are excellent products from Ping. You must log in or register to reply here. They felt just as forgiving and sat a little better behind the ball for our testers. The difference between forged and cast gets smaller with each version they create.

This is all based on the knowledge that most golfers need more perimeter weighting and help getting the ball in the air within the longer irons, while typically benefitting the most from a flatter trajectory in the shorter irons to prevent ballooning and a loss of accuracy into the green.
The ball also seems to launch slightly higher with the new i25s which has given a slight increase in distance for me.
Tungsten weighting in the low toe increases forgiveness. Played i20s and i25s, they are similar but have found the following differences. The soft Ping feel is still there, but this time around it is less of a drawback for me.
Check out our contests! The vibration dampening in the tuning port paired with the tungsten toe insert make these very solid at impact. In regards to forgiveness I found the vd irons fractionally easier to hit vs i20 longer irons but the shorter irons are virtually the same forgiveness as the i20s. I do think that the word forgiveness gets thrown around WAY too much in the golf equipment industry, and we have to always question what the context is when we hear that word.
Kind of a cool feeling when you are swinging well. Much cheapness, much goodness.
