The User's Guide is bad de,uxe confusing. On the Abit the intel sata ports are listed as onchip ide controllers and the sata ports are listed as onboard.

The Promise chipset hdd's bootup fine as Drive C: That included the necessary typing during the install. There are no Intel drivers there because they havn't been installed. Reset Post Submit Post. Anyway windows and BIOS see all hdd's attached to the system. Thanks for any help you can offer.

All reads and writes to the hard drives in RAID 0 are much faster. Do you use the floppy installation for F-6 during set up, and then upgrade to the drivers I link to after the OS is installed?

Since I messed around with the new hdd's so much I ended up removing the RAID config from them and started from scratch. I have the same Mobo I'll explain what I did. I will say that I tried Yoda's technique RAID 0 will give you the best performance. I don't think there's that much a risk updating them really. RAID arrays are best used for the storage of critical data files. I've done extensive benchmarks using several IDE drives and the Raptor, using several different benchmark programs, and the Promise is much faster.
